Lakers clinch playoff berth, Pacific Division title with Suns loss

For the second consecutive year, theLos Angeles Lakerswill finish the regular season atop the Pacific Division.

The Lakers (49-26) clinched a playoff spot and the division title before their game against theCleveland Cavalierson Tuesday night even tipped off, thanks to thePhoenix Suns'115-111loss to theOrlando Magicearlier.

With division title already in tow, the Lakers defeated theCavaliers,127-113, on Tuesday night. With the win, the Lakers have secured back-to-back 50-win seasons for the first time since the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons.

Luka Doncic made a statement in his return froma one-game suspensionafterreceiving his 16th technical foulin LA's win over theBrooklyn Netson Friday, leading all scorers with 42 points. He also had 12 rebounds and 5 assists Xto re-assert himself in the MVP conversation. Austin Reaves and Deandre Ayrton added another boost offensively with 19 and 18 points, respectively.

While the Lakers have historically dominated the Pacific with 26 titles since the division was established in 1970-71, their current run of two straight since the arrival of head coach JJ Redick snapped a dry spell that began aftertheir NBA championship run in 2019-20.

The red-hot Lakers — winners of 11 of their last 17 — currently sit as the third seed in the West after Monday, one game ahead of the fourth-placeDenver Nuggetsand three games ahead of theMinnesota TimberwolvesandHouston Rockets. And with their postseason spot now in hand, LA could have a chance to cement their claim at the third spot with wins over theDallas Mavericks,Golden State Warriors, Suns andUtah Jazz.

Courtney Lovewants Dave Grohl to call off his fans, whom she says are still giving her a hard time after years of feuding with the Foo Fighters rocker.

"Like come out with it and just say we're cool. Like come out with it. Right?" she said Wednesday onThe Magnificent Others With Billy Corganpodcast. "Be man enough to man up."

The widow of late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain has a long history with Grohl, who joined the band in 1990.

Cobaindied in 1994at 27.

Afterward, Grohl and the Hole rocker argued, sometimes over Nirvana, in court.

But both said they had made amends when Nirvana was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.

"Early on in the evening I just tapped her on the shoulder," Grohl toldRolling Stone. "She turned around and I just said, 'Hey.' She said, 'Hey.' Then we gave each other a big hug. I said, 'How are you?' She goes, 'Good, how are you?' I said, 'All right.' And she said, 'Let's do this. Let's rock this tonight.'"

He added, "We're family, no matter what. And we all love each other, no matter what."

Love said it's important Grohl say the situation between them remains okay, because he's someone that straight men look up to.

"We're cool, but you won't say it because you’re afraid you'll lose your audience?" she asked.

"Dave," Love said, "it would really behoove me if the straight white males that are your base, if you will, stop picking on me. Millennials in particular. Gen Z is not picking on me anymore."

The Smashing Pumpkins frontman confirmed that he, too, had seen that Grohl and Love have smoothed things over.

"I can confirm that I've spent time with you and Dave together," Corgan said, "and Dave doesn't have any issue with you."

Glover, who voices Yoshi in the new movie, and his costarsChris PrattandCharlie Dayappeared on the video game-themed podcastGet Playedon Wednesday, April 1, where they discussed the sequel to 2023’sThe Super Mario Bros. Movieand dove into the green dinosaur's biology at comedian and co-host Heather Anne Campbell's behest. "This is one of the great character design questions of all time," Glover, 42, responded. "Are these eyeballs touching or are they one big [eyeball]? I think they're touching. I think it's like a butt, you know?"

"It's kind of gross, but I think it just works that way. I don't know," he added.

"It has to be two eyes," Pratt, who voices the movie's lead character Mario, said. "It has to be. I think just evolutionarily, anything with just one eye would be eaten. You have to have two eyes."

Campbell, 47, responded to Pratt, 46, and Glover's answers with another query. "Do you think the shell on his back is his saddle or is it part of his body?" she asked. "Is the shell the dinosaur part, or is that what somebody rides on?"

"Does he poop, and if it does, does it come in an egg, or..." Glover additionally wondered, while Pratt asked aloud whether "the shell is just something that's put on Yoshi?"

"'Cause he's a dinosaur, right? They don't have turtle shells typically, but maybe — " Glover said, though Day (who voices Luigi) noted, "We don't know for a fact that [dinosaurs] didn't have shells."

"They dropped feathers on us way late in the game," Day, 50, added. "Too many featherless movies to all of a sudden say the T-rex is covered in feathers."

"I love how everybody was like 'Nah, we sticking with these featherless ones,' " Glover joked.
